My day in the studio.

Today l carried on where l left off yesterday! More bookmaking, more painting and loads of fun! Lots of experiments, some mistakes but some really good outcomes. Today l practiced making concertina books and tag books. This is the first long concertina l made from cream, watercolour paper.

A long concertina book in white, watercolour paper.

The next two images are of one of the books painted and with a cloth cover attached. Still experimenting but pleased so far at what l have created!

I made these two different example concertina books for my Book Making Classes. These are just created with thin paper; the "proper" ones will be made of watercolour paper!

I also started to make a booklet for tags and ended up making 3, while l had coffee in Artisan Coffee Shop! Then, when l came back to the studio, I couldn't wait to paint them!

 Drying!

As you can see... l am not a tidy artist!

........... and, l love using my hands whenever possible.

After washing my hands, l stared to sew the tag books... experimenting again!

I now feel as if l really "own" my studio space. I hope you can understand what l mean!

B/W image....loads of colour!

Before l start my very colourful blog today, thought l would show you this. I was in bed the other evening and suddenly saw this shadow on the wall. Makes me think of times past and black and white movies!

Now to what l was doing today ( Sunday ) in my studio...l had so much fun. I made 4 large Journals and one small Christmas journal a la Teesha Moore .

The small journal for Christmas plus a little bell!!

Next step...collage!

An outing and some personal art!

This week l went back to my old art college Wimbledon School of Art, to see an old friend of mine complete her MA.

There were some great pieces of work from the MA students and l have included some of them here.

To complete the MA Exhibition, Mother Nature had to add her own piece....maybe the best in the show?

Look what l rescued from a bin in town today! They will make wonderful printing tools.

Just started Silk Painting again, my word l am rusty! Decided l would try a different pattern and experiment with loads of fish!

Almost finished.

While they were drying l went out and picked some of my Indigo leaves to try an experiment. They are now boiling in water and have been for over an hour.

Am happy with what l am seeing!

This is the finished Fish Silkpainting that l was not happy with

the other day. While after much thinking and then more work on it.....I am now happy with it!

So a pretty successful week on the personal Art front and a great week with the children in the studio. What more could an Artist ask more?  More money l hear you shout!! Hax

paper dyeing and The VERY hungry caterpillar!

I have been so busy trying to get my Art Workshops up and running, and my blog has suffered a bit! So tonight l thought l would show you what l have been upto in my own Art Practice. I have been experimenting with paper and blackberries and a few found flowers and leaves. I am very pleassed with the end results.

I decided today to re-start my silk painting. Oh dear! Not happy with the results but then l have not been painting for months and l have to say it shows!!!!

The last image is of my newly painted studio walls in the main Art Studio. I must admit l am very pleased with the results of The VERY hungary caterpillar! The 3 year old that came into the studio today said, " Oh wow!". Which says it was all worth it to me!
