-------------

The first image is a postcard l am creating.....half way through. I am having so much fun.

The next image is from Camden Market area..want to see more?... go to the past blogs about this area that l have written, in the last week or so. It is an amazing place!
Saw this ladies hair, while l was ...waiting for my bus home! l used to be this colour about 4 years ago....love this colour!
I did try to see what was in the bag...but...l failed!Ha....but I think that from the shadow l can see...they are actually running shoes! L'm so nosey!
I have a think about cranes....love them. This one is looking great against a beautiful blue sky and the English flag really makes this image, l think!
On the way home from a family funeral last week, to try and brighten the afternoon..we went for a drive via Brighton and then home. The beaches just after Brighton, were full of kite boarders...very windy but they had quite a job coping with board and wings!! Fun to watch! My son has just learnt how to do this, while he was visitng friends in Nassau, where he and we used to live. He said it was not easy but once he got going, said it was amazing but a rich boy's hobby!!Hax
Tony and l went to the cinema to see the 3D version of Alice in Wonderland and as we were there...this advert yelled at me...Ruby Tuesday needs this image!Hax

The last image is of a clown in London,  helping to advertise Ripely's museum in London! I always find clowns a little frightening..do you?
Happy Ruby Tuesday my friends.xxlynda

Shadow Shot Sunday Images for 29th may 2010

Shadow Shot Sunday

I went to camden market area of London this week and wahat an amazing place it is now. it has been open again after the fire that did a lot of damage to the area and now it is alao open all week as well as at weekends and is only closed on Christmas Day. You can read more about the place if you look back a few entries in this blog. It is so full of colour and amazing smells and fantastic shops, galleries, food halls and the people are just fun!
I was going upsatirs to my flat late yesterday evening and saw this shade of my hat on the wall. l love the way the holes in the straw came out so well in the image!
I love the way the shadows fall on the Memorial site to rememeber the bomb vitims that died on June 7th 2005 in Hyde Park.
The next image is of the people who carry the advertising boards around in Camden market, in the late afternoon.
The last image is of me, playing around with our shadows, when we were walking down to town. Please note that it was hot(!) in London this week, so we wore our hats to ward of sun stroke...don't laugh, it does get up into the 80's sometimes here in London..promise!Hax
Happy Sunday everyonex

2nd part of day in Camden Town

This is the second and last record of our day in Camdon Town. It is such an amazing place, so full of sounds, smells, interesting people and colour, so much colour. The first image is of the people who carry round advertising placards all day long. I wouldn't like to do their job but at least it is a job, some would say.

All along, on both sides, are huge sculptures hanging or attached to shop fronts, to advertise their wares. I rather like the image below for the shop calling its self "4 Feet"and using painted images of cats and one huge sculpture! great fun to look at.

I also advice people to once in a while look up and see what you might be missing. In this case l took my own advice and look what l saw!!! I wonder if this chimney was made this way or just had an accident? Even so, l think it is fantastic! Very quirky!
This gorgeous chandalier was hanging from the ceiling in one of the shops ..it sparkled and shone so brightly, l just had to try and take a good image of it. It took me a long time to get the exposure right but l think l am happy with the end result.
The young man and his female friend were in awe of the place and said it there is nothing like this in New York and they will be back! Sometimes when we live here, we take it too much for granted and we need to be reminded every so often, so we don't forget it!
This red piece of cloth caught my eye and l wonder why it was here? It looked as if it was tied here for a reason..shame l don't know what it is all about!
Tony caught me coming out of this shop, whose name he thought says it all about me! It is called "Curiosity"!!!!!!!Unfortunetly it is an amazing shop for all sorts of old things, like dolls, postcards and bits of music sheet paper BUT...it is SO expensive!!Shame. If they had been a little cheaper, l would have bought quite a bit.
NOW.....l love shoes and l adore my boots but a cross between the two...not sure about this craze in shoes?? Are they comfortable l wonder?
Another wall full of large sculptures advertising whats in the shops below. The huge Doc.Martin boot moved backwards and forwards as if walking! Can you see the over-sized piecings as well?!
I love these guy's braided hairpieces...would love to do this but just for once..really do think l am too old to wear it.! my god that's a first, l hear my husband say!Hax
Even Goths have to do normal things like take money out of the cash machines! Queuing behind Tony!

As we went back towards the Tube Station, we saw these buildings with their unusual pub names!

Outside the World's End pub was a crowd of people queuing..why? l have no idea. I thought that the pubs should be open normally at this time in the afternoon....anyway..they added colour to the place!

The last image from Camden, is one l want to share with you because every time l look at it, makes me smile. These lasies were just so happy and their smiles say it all..don't they?! Thanks ladies.

The last image in this blog, deals with last section of the day, a visit to Oxford Circus! My wonderful husband had organised an appointment for me at Brassimo..a bra shop! He did this because he knew l needed some more bras but was worried about spending the money, as l am not working much, at present! It is an amazing shop, measures you with only looking at you, (no tape measures in sight!) and suggests the right bra for you.  I also found a wonderful new clothes item.... A t-shirt with thin straps and a fitted bra insided the t-shirt itself. Hurray! As l am large on top, l could never wear a t-shirt or thin strapped dress because my bra straps are too wide! Also a strapless bra that fits me perfectly and doesn't move or slip when you move around!!!!!L am so happyx thanks Tonyxx Mind you, he did enjoy sitting in the lounge with all those women round him, while he waited!!!!! But the real reason Tony asked me to  take this image was because of the name of the pub, just down the road.........the pub is called The Cock!!!!..wonder which came first? And please note, TONY NOTICED THE CONNECTION not me!!!!!!!!Ha!

Hope those of you in the UK, are having a wonderful Bank Holiday and not stuck in any huge motorway queues. Lyndax

Our day in Camden Market Area!

On Thursday, Tony and l went to Camden Market...the change that has occured since the fire there, 2 years ago. It is an amazing place of over 1000 shops, stalls, food halls and entertainment areas. It is open 364 days a year.....closed on Christmas Day! Full of colour, noise and many many characters! below are some images from our day there! Hope you enjoy it!
The image below is a section of one side of the main High Street. l just love all the over-sized sculptures of shoes, cats, heads, trousers ect above the entrance of each shop..advertising their wares!
This is one of the over-sized sculptures l was talking about, above many shops.

The next colourful image is at almost the end of the High Street and l just love this idea, very quirky and says a lot about the atmosphere that is Camden Town!
In the centre of the area, is Camden Lock itself, where the canal boats come in and out and watching the men and woman operating the locks, and the boats going up or down, is very exciting.

Sometimes l wonder what is or was in the minds of designers when they develop an area. For example, the image below shows some fun scooters as seats, which is exciting BUT look at what they are expecting customers to be looking at, while eating! What were they thinking of? If they had put the bikes against the wall, the table in front of them,  they could then watch the passing traffic and people in front of them..far more exciting!!!!
Part of the complex is called "The Stables" and has quite a history of using horse to pull wagons ect and the area at the bottom of the stairs is the old stable's area. These have been turned into shops and eating areas...fantastic place. All over this area, are life sized and extra large bronze horses and workman celebrating their life in this area..
There are many tattoo and piecing salons all over the place, hence all the parading advertising boards! I admire people who dress they way they want and have their own style....long may it last! I love this guys boots but they also remind me of clown shoes!!

For lunch we popped into this Vegetarian Cafe called "Spiral", the food was amazing and the atmosphere was great, with views over the Canal.
There are so many oppurtunities to eat every type of food you could think off, all over the area. Cafes, restaurants and stalls, all with lovely smells, enthusastic chefs and oh so colourful! Reminds me of the many souks and shopping areas, in such places as Singapore or old Dubai!
One of the large bronze horses, that are all over the place, had a decorated ,mane, tail and forehead with ribbons, plastic strands, felt flowers ect.
The horse was advertising a very funky Hairdressers which creates the most amazing hairstyles, made of weaving, plaiting and so on.

The shop was called Pepi's and below the horse image is one of the shop signpost..look at all those heads!!!!l think it is wonderful and l want it!Ha!

Below are some men who are now resting but moments earlier where walking around, carrying a "banner on a stick", as my friend used to call them!...advertising yet another piercing and Tattoo studio and/or another kind of shop!
While wandering round the shops l find a "Vintage" shop and hanging on one of the walls were these gas marks. I don't know if it was the lighting or what, but for something l think is quite scarry...they looked so beautiful and almost fragile!!
The man in the next image, made me think l was in the wrong time zone...a hippy on the loose. But he had an amazing aura of peace around him and seems to be at peace with himself and all around him..l envy him almost.
The last image in this entry is of a very colourful group of African hats outside one of the many stalls around the place. A colourful note to end today on...more from this day out tomorrow!Nightx

The Senior Playground and a walk through Hyde Park and Kennsington Gardens.

A few days ago, Tony and l went to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, to see..wait for it...A Senior Playground!! You heard right..an amazing playground for the over 60's!Ha! honestly l kid you not!! On the way by the Number 14 bus,  we were stopped outside the Marsden Hospital (Cancer Hospital) because there had been a fire alert. By the time we arrive, luckily the problem or false alarm seemed to be over, as everyone was trooping back into the hospital.

Below are a few image of the Senior Playground..not very big but "good things come in small parcels", or so my gran used to tell me!.

I must admit we did have some fun...we will be back as it is much better than exercising indoors! The sign below is in the wrong place but l think is rather funny in this "wrong" place!

I have always wanted to Roller Blade but l do not have good balance these days and also if l fell, l would be VERY worried l would damage my back surgery. So l have to be content to watch other people having, what looks like great fun.
This young man makes me feel so old but he was amazing. Great fun to watch him having such fun and learning with  his dad!
The image below of young girls sunbathing, is actually funnier than it appears....can you see the young men  in the background?....well they spent most of the time just staring at them...isn't summer a wonderful time?!Ha!
The park was full of people playing, sunbathing, having picnic's, reading and sleeping and none of them playing music out-loud anywhere!..except...two young woman with an ipod on a base station..not the sort of girls l would expect to be doing this!!!!!

Normally building sites are not beautiful places to look at BUT l have just found one that is not the norm. Beautifully shiny, shimmering purple/blue curtain hanging over the building itself!!! The boarding  in front of the curtains are also fun! See the two images below!! It is l think, going to be VERY expensive flats!!

The image below is of one of the many sign posts on the floor, to point to The Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Walk in Kennsington Gardens. I think they are actually quite beautiful .

I really love this building or shelter..what an amazing place to sit and read or just rest. The wood and the height really make this an very impressing looking building!
Just before we left the Park, to catch our bus home..l heard the sound of hooves. Turned around and saw this group of children and adults coming towards us. I am used to seeing adult rides in and around the parks all the time. I haven't seen children before being taught rather than just been lead by a wakling adult. It was a lovely sight to see and all the children were full of smiles and talking non stop.....such fun!
What a lovely way to end a very enjoyable day in Central London!
