The journey from Putney to Andrew and Gemma's house in Rutland.

I love this sign on the entrance to The Brompton Cemetery!

What a colourful work area !

Some new buildings that have just been finished in Central London. I love all the glass they use these days, must be great to have all that light to work in. Mind you, l hope they have some way to open windows instead of only relying on air conditioning!
The Cherry Blossom is out all over London at the moment...really beautiful to see and smell.
There is a demonstration opposite the Libyan Embassy in Central London against Gaddafi...peaceful most of the time but, in my mind,..good to see. At least we can do it here..protest peacefully l mean... and not get beaten up or shot at..well rarely anyway ....hopefully!

This was the first time l had seen this sculpture...rather good l thought! I had to take the image while driving past in a rather fast traffic jam ..oh no l was not driving..l was the passenger!

This next image shows loads of daffodils which are in swathes all over London. Reminds me of Wordsworth's poem.." I saw a host of golden daffodils...."

This is another new sculpture to me but it really made me smile when l saw it through the car window. What a wonderfully colourful sculpture to see on your way to work on a dull or cloudy day in London.
Oh l do love living in this Cosmopolitian City of London.

This is the Lord's Cricket Ground which l think is interesting building. Tony would love to have a day or a season ticket here!

Saw this very moving wall sculpture outside a Hospital in London. There is one on either side of the main entrance to the hospital .

On our way through London up to Rutland, we stopped in Hendon for a coffee and a sandwich. I had always thought of Hendon as a very smart/posh place to live. Well some of the houses might be amazing but the town centre is definitely not smart as you can see from the image below.!

Saw this lady waiting to cross the road and just had to take an image of this amazing mass of hair.

This was the Costa Coffee shop we had our lunch in. It was very clean and comfy even though the area around it was far from clean and smart!

As we stopped at the traffic lights, l noticed an unusal shop on the other side of the road. Can you see it? It is called "The Welly Workshop"! What a wondeful concept and name! Must try and visit the shop one day on our way up to see Andrew and Gemma.
I have tried many times to get a good image of this lion, each time we have gone past it. This one isn't very good but at least it gives you an idea of it. There is a leopard on the other side of the roundabout!

Every time we go past this "place" we giggle...wonder who actually uses it? Lorry drivers, the workman mending the road around it?

As we left London, the fog hit! Was not too bad but not very pleasant to drive in, especially when lorries and some car owners don't put their headlights on.

This decorated corridor is outside the toilets in the Supermarket near Andrew's house. It is strange but l noticed people couldn't help smiling at it as they went past .

When we arrived at Andrew and Gemma's house it was nice to see so many plants were starting to bloom in their garden. Spring has "sprung"!

can you see the insect on this leaf?

Visit to Affordable Art Fair and home again

I am blogging again as l am now feeling a lot better. Although it is still quite chilly, the Plum tree has started to blossom..lovely.

The next image is to show the world that the UK can have beautiful " blue sky" days!
As people who know me will be aware, l love cranes and scaffolding. Just down the road on Putney Hill they have knocked down the old college and are putting up a block of flats.
Don't skeleton leaves look so beautiful. Nature is an amazing thing.
Oh boy..this purple is just so intense. Would love to find something that would dye this colour naturally! Now that would be a find.

Last week, l had a sudden urge to go and get my hair cut. In Putney there is a hairdressers called Tomato, isn't that a wonderfully random name? Just before l decided to do this l saw this guy and thought he was wonderfully dressed! Then, imagine my surprise when l am introduced to my hairdresser ...it is the same guy, great fun and he is Polish.
Is there no stopping this man!!As my next door neighbours said..."Look out Jane Asher". For those who only know her as an actress, she also makes and decorates amazing Cakes !
Tony and l were not feeling that good on Friday but we went to The Affordable Art Fair (AAF) because we wanted to compare prices etc. for my own Art Practice. Having used the "Overground" route, it was only a few mins walk to Battersea Park, were the Fair was being held. This is one of the doors we saw on our walk to the Park......good house keeping going on here! Ha!
This statue is in the Park...A War Memorial but for some reason it really freaks me out. Not sure why. I think it might be something to do with the eyes!
The sign to tell you where the Art Fair is! Not exactly small is it?
This "Green" sculpture was at the entrance to the Fair. I really loved watching the wheel spin  and the spheres twist in the wind.

Urban Nature along The Thames.

Bird in flight in front of Chelsea Bridge, London. If you click on this image, l hope you can see the iconic Red London Bus on the right-hand side of the bridge?
Can you see the ducks on the shingle beside the Thames?
I thought these flowers were so delicate and the colour is just so rich. Must find out the name of the plant in case l  ever have a garden!
As we were walking along the Thames we saw this Refuse Barge slowly coming towards us.  It came up to another barge and we just thought it would carry on but we were a bit concerned when they appeared to be getting VERY close to each other.
Then the Refuse Barge started to turn round and go back in the direction it had come from! It was not the easiest manoeuvre but was carried out with great skill, in my opinon.

If you look closely you will see one of the men, on the Refuse Barge, throwing a thick rope to a man on the stationary barge. That is quite a throw!
Two barges now connected. I was fascinated to watch this whole operation and now l  am wondering how long they will stay here and then where will they go?

I have never seen Battersea Power Station from this angle before but was only able to get two and a bit of the four towers in!
We have large rats in London..hence the size of this trap!
Interesting front door and love the letter-box.
On our way home.."Mind The Gap!"

Just a walk....

A quick visit to my bundles...looking interesting..only a few more months to go!

I really don't like rain, l know we need it for the plants to grow but when l saw the raindrops on the leaves ...l realise l don't hate it that much!!
Also rain means that the oil or petrol mixed with the rain..really brightens the roads up!!!
Walked past this car that really is what l would call a baby carrier! There were toys stucked to the window, toys stuck to the back of the chair, toys hanging from the ceiling and books on hangers from the door handles!! A very well entertained baby....and l bet it still cried!Hax
Saw this pair of trainners at the bus stop...l bet you could see him in the dark..bet he doesn't need a torch!
Love this hat! I think it is called a Pork Pie hat....are they meant to be that small on a normal head?!
These are the beautiful tiles that are laid in a part of our Libary floor, funnily enough they are only out side the toilets!

As l was walking  l saw these shadow on a house.  Really spooky but beautiful.
I think the shadows and lines on this plastic roll down blind look like writing.
Spring has started....Hooray!!!!!!!
