Trip to Tisted for Air Rally 2010.

Tony and l were very honoured to be invited to this rally by my son's father-in-law. This was the biggest fly in the Rally in the UK, of planes built or designed before WWII since the war! There were over 90 of them, l think. Amazing sight to see all those planes flying and landing and then being able to actually go and touch them. Now don't get me wrong.....planes are not something l would travel all over the world to see but this was a rare oppurtunity and so l grabbed it with both hands. I was not let down, it was an amazing day all round. Thank you Roy from both of usx
The hat Tony has on, was a present from Andrew and Gemma, from their travels in Argentina. So gorgeous!HAx

Below is the make-shift runway that the planes would be landing on and taking off from..not at the same time, well not normally! the dots in the far distence, are the photographers in yellow vests, waiting for the planes to land. Sorry Andrew, that we took out our yellow vest from the car, before comingbecause we didn't need it. If we had had it with us, Andrew could have gone into the field and been taking images like the other guys.Sorry Andrew!
I love this plane, it is so small and also looks so weird and looks as if it was made in someone's garage! Mind you, l expect a lot of them where!Ha
Just in case you were wondering who is writing this normal sounding blog....what.....no "Art" images?..it is me and to prove it...here is an image of bluebells in the wood next to the airfield! so many of them and so blue..looked like a blue carpet.
Below is an image of the clan here to day to watch, husband, dad, grandad and father-in-law fly his plane! the children were great and a lot of fun. it was nice to meet again with Nat and Zoe, (Gemma's sister's)one husband Alex, Richard is away working, 4 children, Anna(Gemma's mum) and Roy..the proud owner of the plane and car! Also two of Roy's brothers were there too and one of their wives. Thankfully the weather was fantastic and so fun was had by all.

Tony point this sign out to me and it really made me giggle! At the top of the instrument panel and in the middle, there is a sign thats saying.."No Smoking". there are some funny laws around but l still find it funny imagining a pilot in an open cockpit, trying to light a match and keep it burning long enough to like a cigar or similar!!!
Next image is the area where planes taxied in and out of the parking area. The majority of these planes were so brightly coloured, l suppose it also means you can see them easily on the ground and up in the sky!
this plane below, was the only plane l saw out of the many that were there, over 90 l think, that made smoke!
The image below, shows you a plane being fuelled up. I thought they would use a lot more and was surprised to find out, it only took 8 gallons to fill up the tank.
The majority of these planes are so beautifully made. An example of that, is this beautifully crafted propeller that is on Roy's plane, a work of Art in it's own right, l think.
As you can image from the age of most of these planes, you could see the engines quick clearly. This image is part of a very rare plane, that was on show at this meet. Work's of Art all of them. When you realise how much time, money and work these planes take, to get them to the stage they actually can fly, l have to marvel at these men. They are absorbed by their hobbies and the patience they have is amazing. Their wives and families must be very understanding people!
The image of the lady below, makes me smile. She had really entered into the fun of the Meet and dressed to match the  period of the plane, she and her husband were being flown in. A great sense of fun, l admire her.
Here comes the red Baron......I just love these planes that have wires attaching their wings to the plane.
Roy and one of his beautiful toy!

Roy and two of his wonderful boy's toys!

"Top Gun"......my son Andrew being allowed again, to drive Roy's car. Brave father-in-law!Ha..... BUT Roy does know that Andrew knows how to drive this car and also Andrew loves this car.

I took this image of Tony and Andfew on their way home. I was following them in the Pocket Rocket! This was the first time Tony had had a ride in the Roy's car and l think they both enjoyed the experience. My turn to ride in the car, next time.

The first image is a postcard l am creating.....half way through. I am having so much fun.

The next image is from Camden Market area..want to see more?... go to the past blogs about this area that l have written, in the last week or so. It is an amazing place!
Saw this ladies hair, while l was ...waiting for my bus home! l used to be this colour about 4 years ago....love this colour!
I did try to see what was in the bag...but...l failed!Ha....but I think that from the shadow l can see...they are actually running shoes! L'm so nosey!
I have a think about cranes....love them. This one is looking great against a beautiful blue sky and the English flag really makes this image, l think!
On the way home from a family funeral last week, to try and brighten the afternoon..we went for a drive via Brighton and then home. The beaches just after Brighton, were full of kite boarders...very windy but they had quite a job coping with board and wings!! Fun to watch! My son has just learnt how to do this, while he was visitng friends in Nassau, where he and we used to live. He said it was not easy but once he got going, said it was amazing but a rich boy's hobby!!Hax
Tony and l went to the cinema to see the 3D version of Alice in Wonderland and as we were there...this advert yelled at me...Ruby Tuesday needs this image!Hax

The last image is of a clown in London,  helping to advertise Ripely's museum in London! I always find clowns a little frightening..do you?
Happy Ruby Tuesday my friends.xxlynda

Our day in Camden Market Area!

On Thursday, Tony and l went to Camden Market...the change that has occured since the fire there, 2 years ago. It is an amazing place of over 1000 shops, stalls, food halls and entertainment areas. It is open 364 days a year.....closed on Christmas Day! Full of colour, noise and many many characters! below are some images from our day there! Hope you enjoy it!
The image below is a section of one side of the main High Street. l just love all the over-sized sculptures of shoes, cats, heads, trousers ect above the entrance of each shop..advertising their wares!
This is one of the over-sized sculptures l was talking about, above many shops.

The next colourful image is at almost the end of the High Street and l just love this idea, very quirky and says a lot about the atmosphere that is Camden Town!
In the centre of the area, is Camden Lock itself, where the canal boats come in and out and watching the men and woman operating the locks, and the boats going up or down, is very exciting.

Sometimes l wonder what is or was in the minds of designers when they develop an area. For example, the image below shows some fun scooters as seats, which is exciting BUT look at what they are expecting customers to be looking at, while eating! What were they thinking of? If they had put the bikes against the wall, the table in front of them,  they could then watch the passing traffic and people in front of them..far more exciting!!!!
Part of the complex is called "The Stables" and has quite a history of using horse to pull wagons ect and the area at the bottom of the stairs is the old stable's area. These have been turned into shops and eating areas...fantastic place. All over this area, are life sized and extra large bronze horses and workman celebrating their life in this area..
There are many tattoo and piecing salons all over the place, hence all the parading advertising boards! I admire people who dress they way they want and have their own style....long may it last! I love this guys boots but they also remind me of clown shoes!!

For lunch we popped into this Vegetarian Cafe called "Spiral", the food was amazing and the atmosphere was great, with views over the Canal.
There are so many oppurtunities to eat every type of food you could think off, all over the area. Cafes, restaurants and stalls, all with lovely smells, enthusastic chefs and oh so colourful! Reminds me of the many souks and shopping areas, in such places as Singapore or old Dubai!
One of the large bronze horses, that are all over the place, had a decorated ,mane, tail and forehead with ribbons, plastic strands, felt flowers ect.
The horse was advertising a very funky Hairdressers which creates the most amazing hairstyles, made of weaving, plaiting and so on.

The shop was called Pepi's and below the horse image is one of the shop signpost..look at all those heads!!!!l think it is wonderful and l want it!Ha!

Below are some men who are now resting but moments earlier where walking around, carrying a "banner on a stick", as my friend used to call them!...advertising yet another piercing and Tattoo studio and/or another kind of shop!
While wandering round the shops l find a "Vintage" shop and hanging on one of the walls were these gas marks. I don't know if it was the lighting or what, but for something l think is quite scarry...they looked so beautiful and almost fragile!!
The man in the next image, made me think l was in the wrong time zone...a hippy on the loose. But he had an amazing aura of peace around him and seems to be at peace with himself and all around him..l envy him almost.
The last image in this entry is of a very colourful group of African hats outside one of the many stalls around the place. A colourful note to end today on...more from this day out tomorrow!Nightx

                                           RUBY

                                              TUESDAY

One of the many painted elephants which have been placed round London.the orgainizes are trying and make the public more away of the problems that Asian elephants are suffering. They hope to raise money by auctioning off the elephants in a few weeks time.
How often are we lucky enough to find 3 red vehicles all the same shade of red??Wicked!
Beautiful image of a tree in full bloom in Kew Gardens.
This image would be difficult for my dad, ad he is colour blind!
The red image below is of one of many Rhododendron bushes of many colours, to be found in The Isabella Plantation inside Richmond Park.

The image below, is one of my favorite places to shop for pens, paer and many iother things.

HAPPY RUBY TUESDAY EVERYONE!!!XX
