A day trip to Brighton!

One of the many things l love about this place is the Art work, that is all over Brighton.  Below are a few of the murals/grafitti that l saw today, that l thought were really special!..especially the first one..wow!

This metal sculpture of a zebra was high up over a shop doorway and was very impressive and the b/w painted spripes, l thought, just finished the whole image off wonderfully!

There are a number of Tattoo parlours in Brighton but this one's window display really set it apart from the others..Wish l could have taken a better image but it was not possible.

I have always wanted to wear my hair like this but now...l feel l am too old and l think my family would consider it the last straw!!Ha

As many of you know, l love textiles and l have found a great little fabric shop called Ditto Fabrics and it does mail order!Yeh! then down another street l found another shop, didn't have time to check it out but looks fasinating..another visit coming soon "me" thinks!!!!!Need to save "the money" up first though!!

I love AllSaints and there is an amazing one here in Brighton. I have to say l love their sewing machine window display but l never knew there were SO many old machines around. I gave mine away when l went to Dubai many years ago. LOVED that old machine, had a character all of it's own!

Today was not a summer's day by any means and yet...arn't the British wonderful...they were swimming in the sea!!!!! Adults and children alike!

Look at that sky..isn't it gorgeous?

I love this scultpture...you can only see the images if you are standing at certain angles! Very clever piece of work.

I love seagulls!

The balloons below were let of my what looked like a special needs school but l have no idea what the occassion was.

Someone has been having fun..who's says you can't have fun when there is no sand?? Love the way they made a sail boat out of a cuttle fish bone and a feather..very creative!

Fragile feathers, beautifully colured stones and shells and textured seaweed.....the beach hold such wonderful finds for an artist!!

Now where did this young bird come from and ..what is it? A goose maybe?

We are on holiday and this is what you do...no matter how cold it is..good on them, l say!

We had an amazing day even if it was a bit chilly..came home with loads of lovely material, a thimble! and lots of interesting colourful papers and string!! Night all. Hope you enjoyed your quick magic carpet ride round Brightonxx

RUBY TUESDAY

Saw this amazing red wall in More London..just love it, it is so brillent.

The day was so hot, that this woman and her daughter were playing in part of a fountain display. Love the child's red and white bathing costume.

As many of you know... l love cranes and this one is wonderful as well as being red!

This was a rosebush, in my son's garden..isn't it beautiful?

A very bright and vibrant garden in a National Trust Gdn we visited this last Sunday.

I love house boats, they look so beautiful and peaceful as they glide silently pass you in the water.

The first image is the sun causing shadows falling on my "bits" that are making up my journal jackets!

The second  image is the shadow fallinbg on a very well earned lemonade shandy, after a long hot walk round London!

I love cranes and this one at Bank, in the City, is just amazing!!

We were sitting having a cream tea in the centre of London..as you do..and noticed this shadow on this wonderful red wall!

A colouful trip through Southall.

The other week com ing home from visiting my parents, we decided to come home a different way. This time we came through Southall, as we hadn't been that way before. These images show one of the reasons we love living in london! We live in an amazing city and we really appreciate the ability to be able to live here.

I love Indian Food! and don't you just love the statues!

It feels like a steet in old Dubai, with food stalls on the street! I can almost smell the food..yummy!

The shops that sell gold jewellery on this street, are so like the old Dubai shops we used to see over 20 odd years ago. By that l mean the bracelets and necklaces are just different, hard to explain..sorry!

I often think l was born in the wrong country as l love these clothes and when l have worn these styles, l feel so comfortable and at easy in them, far more than l do in European clothes! Maybe that is why my clothes are different and often loose and brightly coloured?!

One of the reasons l took this image, was because of what was in the background! Can you see the street seat in the background? It has been turned round and has become a meeting place. People sit on these seats and talk, other people come and go. You will see this in most hot countries...great to see it here. There were these seats all over the streets with people sitting on them and chatting.

I just love the mixture of colours that most Indian women wear..beautiful.

Such a colouful addition to the streets.

Another exciting day in the Big City!!

Earlier this week, Tony and l went up to london, mainly because l had an appointment at the Sleep Clinic...but because it was so warm and with blue skies, we walked and spent quite a while in town. The first thing that caught my eye on the start of this journey was a shoe at Putney Railway Station. Somebody had a good night out...must have been difficult walking home in only one shoe and that high as well!! or maybe they had a good day at Ascot!!!

Once in London Bridge area, we went to walk through the Galleria and outside was a huge crane. Being red and against an amazing blue sky...looked beautiful! I also love the shadows that have formed on the base of the crane itself.

Inside the Galleria there are shops, restaurants, market stalls, a huge iron ship that has moving parts and running water and a Boules pitch! I love the glass and metal ceiling.

What a wonderful splash of colour this workman's overalls make!

Just behind the Mayor's Office is a Water Spout fFountain and children and parents were having an amazing time playing in twater, as different bits of it went up and down in height. I think many tourists were surprised to see this going on in a "work" area!

 

This lady and child were having fun and seemed to be in a world of their own. In the next image you will see a larger version of what they were playing in!

The reflection below blew me away..to see so much and so clearly in this stack of windows was, to me, amazing!

Talking of reflections, l love the art on this wall and also the reflections in the window itself. If you look closely, you will see me! Oh joy of joys!!

And last but not least, l know it was a bit wicked but l couldn't resist taking this image..l will leave you to guess why!!!
